Directions

Place 1 cup of birdseeds on a flat plate.

Place 3 or 4 tablespoons of shortening or peanut butter in a bowl

Tie your ribbon around the pinecone so that you will be able to hang it on your fence or the tree.

Place your child in an apron. This is messy work! I prefer to make these outside so that I don’t need to clean up the birdseeds that fall off of the plate.

Place the shortening all over the pinecone. Smash it into the crevasses and cover completely.

Roll the pinecone in the bird seeds. Then pour the seeds on top of the the pinecone until all of the seeds are off of your plate.

Now, choose a place to hang the pinecone so that it is visible to your child so that you can enjoy watching the birds as they visit their special treat!
